The Number of Homes put into use in the First Half of 2026 Increased by 30%

The number of homes put into use in the first half of 2026 was 30% higher than the same period last year, 60% of them in urban areas, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.

In total, 31,958 homes were completed. Approximately 31,600 were built from private funds, and 359 from public funds.

In terms of the division by region, a third of the new homes were in Bucharest-Ilfov, almost 15% in the North-West and 11.6% in the West. The fewest homes were put into use in the South-East and South-West Oltenia.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, in the first six months of the year, 15,939 building permits for residential buildings were issued, down 9.6%.
