BIG Poland will open its new retail park in Olkusz on 22 October, increasing its Polish operating portfolio to 14 properties with approximately 271,500 sqm of gross lettable area. The 13,500 sqm project has been developed in cooperation with BOIG The Blue Ocean Investment Group.
BIG Olkusz is located at the junction of Sławkowska and Centralna streets, with access from the DK94 national road. Kaufland will anchor the development with approximately 4,500 sqm, while HalfPrice will operate a two-level store covering around 2,260 sqm. The property will provide approximately 350 parking spaces.
The project expands BIG Poland’s presence in regional Polish retail markets. CEO Eran Levy said the company selected Olkusz based on accessibility, the size and characteristics of the local catchment and retailer interest, with BOIG providing local development expertise.
BIG Poland’s expansion strategy combines development projects with acquisitions and extensions of existing properties. The company entered Poland in 2022 and has since assembled retail parks in Andrychów, Lubin, Łubna, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Ostróda, Włocławek, Myszków, Olsztyn, Suwałki, Koszalin, Kielce, Dzierżoniów, Grodzisk Mazowiecki and, following the October opening, Olkusz.
Further expansion is already being prepared. BIG Poland currently has three development projects in its pipeline in Piła, Konstantynów Łódzki and Bolesławiec.
The Olkusz opening will be accompanied by a public event on 22 October. Beyond the launch activities, the more significant milestone for BIG is the increase of its Polish portfolio to approximately 271,500 sqm, continuing the company’s rapid expansion in the country’s retail park sector since entering the market four years ago.
