PGE targets external energy projects as Poland’s infrastructure investment accelerates

30 September 2026

PGE is widening its search for energy investments by inviting developers, asset owners and financial investors to present projects covering renewable generation, electricity storage and grid infrastructure. The initiative gives Poland’s largest power group another route to expand its portfolio alongside projects developed internally.

Operating under the name Project MOC, the programme covers assets at different stages of maturity, from developments still being prepared to completed and operating infrastructure. This potentially creates an additional exit route for developers and investors that have advanced projects through permitting, grid connection or construction.

PGE is also offering flexibility over transaction structures. Depending on the individual project, the group can acquire an entire project company, take a minority position or establish a joint venture. Existing developers may also remain involved after PGE invests, allowing projects to continue under partnership arrangements rather than requiring an outright sale.

The initiative fits PGE’s wider investment strategy, particularly in energy storage, where the group intends to combine its own developments with acquisitions of operating and construction-ready projects. Poland’s rapid expansion of wind and solar generation is simultaneously increasing demand for storage and investment in electricity networks capable of accommodating additional renewable capacity.

For independent developers and infrastructure funds, Project MOC therefore represents more than another renewable expansion programme. PGE is positioning itself as a potential buyer, investment partner and long-term owner, creating another channel through which developers can monetise projects and recycle capital into new energy investments.

The strategy also has implications beyond the energy sector. Growing electricity requirements from manufacturing, logistics, data centres and other power-intensive developments are making grid availability an increasingly important factor in property investment decisions. By targeting generation, storage and network infrastructure simultaneously, PGE is seeking projects across the infrastructure chain that will increasingly determine where major industrial and commercial developments can be delivered in Poland.
