PAD RES raises €44m for construction of three Polish solar farms

28 September 2026

PAD RES Group has secured PLN 192.5m (€44m) of long-term financing from UniCredit for three photovoltaic projects with a combined capacity of 133 MW in south-western Poland. The funding will cover the remaining construction work and support the projects once they enter operation.

The largest asset in the portfolio is the 90 MW Krapkowice solar farm, accompanied by an 18 MW project in Strzelce Opolskie, both in the Opolskie region. A third 25 MW installation is being developed at Gromadka in Lower Silesia. Together, the projects occupy approximately 142 hectares.

PAD RES expects the three installations to produce around 140 GWh of electricity annually once operational, an amount the company estimates is comparable with the annual consumption of approximately 47,000 households. Construction is already under way and PAD RES intends to retain ownership of the assets after completion rather than sell them following development.

The projects were acquired from German developers operating in Poland under the Gospodarka Solarna business. PAD RES took control while they were still at an early stage and subsequently advanced them through development towards construction. The company has built a wider Polish renewable-energy pipeline exceeding 3 GW since a joint venture between Kajima Partnerships and Griffin Capital Partners acquired a majority interest in PAD RES in 2021.

The latest facility continues a series of financing agreements between PAD RES and UniCredit during 2026. Earlier in September, the bank provided PLN 83.7m (€19.5m) for the 51 MW Biesiekierz and Mikołajki Pomorskie solar portfolio. In January, UniCredit joined Santander Bank Polska and Bank Millennium in providing PLN 637m, approximately €151.3m, for nine photovoltaic projects.

Across these three disclosed transactions, PAD RES has therefore secured approximately PLN 913m of financing during 2026 for renewable-energy portfolios representing 494 MW of capacity. The facilities have different structures and purposes, however, with the latest financing specifically supporting construction and subsequent operation of the Krapkowice, Strzelce Opolskie and Gromadka projects.

The €44m agreement adds to the volume of bank capital being deployed into Polish renewable-energy infrastructure as developers move larger project pipelines from development into construction and operation. For PAD RES, it provides long-term funding for another 133 MW of generating capacity while allowing the company to retain the completed assets within its growing Polish renewable-energy portfolio.
