Former football player Gică Popescu and his business partner Viorel Constantin are investing approximately EUR 3 million in the expansion and modernization of the Rozmarin Hotel in Predeal, a project that includes the development of a wellness center and a museum dedicated to the footballer’s career. The project benefits from approximately 40% financing via European funds accessed through the Regio program.
The works aim to inaugurate, in December of this year, a SPA center equipped with saunas, a gym, and an indoor swimming pool, alongside an exhibition space of approximately 100 square meters located at the entrance. The 4-star property, built between 1933 and 1936 and situated near the Orizont Hotel, currently features 64 double and triple rooms, 6 suites, and 3 conference rooms.
The investment is part of an extensive real estate development strategy undertaken by Popescu, who mentioned his intention to complete new projects every six months. Recently, he collected EUR 8 million from the sale of the GP Plaza commercial park in Hunedoara to the British group M Core. At the same time, the investor partnered with Hubix to develop the Akadémia Distrikt complex in Craiova, a project valued at approximately EUR 70.7 million.
