Romanian-founded technology company Veridion has secured $20 million in Series A financing to support its international expansion and further develop its operations in Romania. The investment round was led by Hoxton Ventures, with existing investors Underline Ventures, OTB Ventures, GapMinder, Day One Capital and LAUNCHub Ventures also participating.
Veridion develops artificial intelligence-based business intelligence and data services used to analyse companies and commercial markets. Its technology maintains a continuously updated database covering millions of businesses worldwide, providing information used by banks, insurers, investors and other organisations for risk assessment and identifying market opportunities.
The company plans to use the additional capital to expand internationally while increasing the size of its Romanian team. The financing follows an earlier $6 million seed round announced in February 2023, marking a significant increase in the level of capital secured by the business as it moves into its next phase of development.
Romanian law firm bpv GRIGORESCU ȘTEFĂNICĂ advised Veridion and several participants in the Series A transaction, including Hoxton Ventures and OTB Ventures. Its team covered corporate, venture capital, taxation and foreign direct investment matters connected with the financing.
The firm’s advisory team was led by managing partner Cătălin Grigorescu and also included senior associate Anamaria Rotariu, Cristina de Jonge and Denisa Kopandi, alongside other lawyers. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised Veridion on the US-related elements of the financing.
bpv GRIGORESCU ȘTEFĂNICĂ also advised Veridion and its founders on the company’s previous $6 million financing. The latest investment provides Veridion with substantially greater resources for international growth while retaining Romania as an important part of its technology and workforce expansion.
