Castorama has expanded its presence in Poland’s shopping-centre market with the opening of a new interior design studio at Galeria Świdnicka. The concept occupies almost 50 sqm and provides customers with planning services for kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes.
The Castorama Studio Projektowe format differs from the retailer’s traditional large-format home-improvement stores. Instead of carrying an extensive product range, the unit focuses on consultations and project preparation, giving Castorama a compact physical presence within the shopping centre.
Customers can work with designers to prepare layouts and 3D visualisations before selecting products and materials. The studio can also provide quotations and arrange related services including delivery and installation, connecting the small-format unit with Castorama’s wider retail and fulfilment operations.
The premises include displays of kitchens, wardrobes, fittings and accessories intended to demonstrate different interior configurations. Design consultations are provided without charge, according to Galeria Świdnicka.
For the shopping centre, the opening adds a home-improvement and interior-design service to its existing retail offer. Galeria Świdnicka director Alicja Andracka-Oleszek said the centre is increasingly considering services as well as conventional retail categories when developing its tenant mix.
The new studio is located opposite Pepco within Galeria Świdnicka. Its arrival illustrates how established retailers can use smaller advisory and service-oriented formats to reach shopping-centre customers without requiring the space associated with a conventional big-box store.
