Jumbo Buys former Haier factory near Ploiești

Greek toy retailer Jumbo buys former Haier factory near Ploiești, closed last year, which it will use as a distribution center in Romania and Hungary.

Haier inaugurated the factory near Ploiești in 2021, following an investment of over EUR 70 million. The unit, with an area of ​​63,000 square meters, was closed last spring.

“The building belongs to us now: we are in the due diligence analysis stage to pay the remaining amount and we hope to complete the process in the next month and a half. It is an almost new building, equipped with ultra-modern facilities and all the necessary things,” announces Apostolos Vakakis, the founder and president of Jumbo.

This is the second factory acquired by Jumbo in Romania, after it bought the former Habitex textile factory in Baia Mare in the spring. On this site, Jumbo will open its first hypermarket in Maramureș.
