Businessman Dan Ostahie, founder of Altex, bought 8 of the 20 stores leased by Brico Depot, to protect his investments, another 10 being already owned by the DIY chain.
“We took over 30 Brico Depot stores, of which 10 were owned and 20 operated in rented spaces. Subsequently, we acquired the spaces for 8 of them – in Buzău, Târgoviște, Brăila, Târgu Mureș, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Cluj and Botoșani. These acquisitions are part of our consolidation and development strategy, through which we aim to modernize the stores we have taken over to bring them to the desired standards and, at the same time, protect the investments made. Each location is analyzed individually, without there being a general rule for acquiring all spaces,” said Dan Ostahie, CEO of Altex Romania, a company that operates the Altex, Media Galaxy and Brico Depot brands.
