CEVA Logistics Adds 3.16 Million Sqm of Warehousing Through FedEx Supply Chain Acquisition

15 October 2026

The international logistics sector has seen another major consolidation as CMA CGM completes its USD 1.4 billion acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, substantially expanding the North American operations of its subsidiary, CEVA Logistics. The transaction brings approximately 3.16 million sqm of additional warehouse accommodation into the group’s distribution network, creating a significantly larger operating platform across the United States and Canada.

The acquisition increases CEVA’s contract logistics business in North America to almost three times its previous size. Approximately 150 warehouses and nearly 10,000 employees are being integrated into the organisation, expanding its regional presence to more than 240 locations with a combined workforce of around 20,000. The additional capacity strengthens its ability to manage warehousing, distribution and related services for businesses operating across multiple markets.

The transaction represents a considerable expansion of logistics infrastructure at a time when international operators are seeking greater control over different stages of product distribution. By combining additional warehouse facilities with existing transport operations, the group aims to provide customers with more coordinated services covering the movement, storage and delivery of goods.

The acquired business also expands CEVA’s capabilities in several industries requiring specialised distribution services. Healthcare, technology, retail and consumer products are among the sectors expected to benefit from the enlarged network. The integration is intended to support further investment in warehouse automation, robotics and digital systems, potentially improving the efficiency of inventory handling and distribution activities.

For the industrial property market, the scale of the additional accommodation is particularly relevant. The 3.16 million sqm being added to CEVA’s operations represents a substantial increase in logistics space managed by a single international operator. However, the transaction announcement does not distinguish between owned and leased facilities, meaning the additional floor area should not be interpreted as a direct real estate acquisition of equivalent size.

The agreement also includes a continuation of commercial cooperation between CMA CGM and FedEx. Under a new arrangement, the French group will become a preferred provider of maritime freight services to FedEx, although the agreement will not prevent either company from working with other operators. Discussions are also planned concerning air cargo capacity on international routes, including services connecting Asia and Europe.

These arrangements extend the commercial relationship beyond the sale of the logistics subsidiary. They also reflect the increasing integration of maritime transport, air freight and warehouse operations, as large logistics groups seek to manage a greater proportion of their customers’ distribution requirements through coordinated international networks.

The acquisition strengthens CMA CGM’s position in North America, where the company has maintained a presence for more than 25 years. The United States remains an important market for the group’s investment strategy, with the enlarged logistics business complementing its existing shipping and transport activities.

The transaction also highlights the importance of operational scale in the international logistics industry. Larger distribution networks can provide opportunities to invest in technology, improve the use of existing facilities and serve customers across more locations. At the same time, integrating substantial warehouse portfolios and workforces requires coordination of systems, processes and customer relationships.

With the acquisition completed, CEVA Logistics enters a new stage of development in North America. The expanded network provides a foundation for further growth, while the longer-term results will depend on how effectively the acquired operations are integrated and how demand develops across the industries served by the business.
