ARO Palace Transforms Capitol Hotel into Mercure Brașov Center

ARO Palace announced the signing of contracts to start renovation works at the Capitol hotel in Brașov, affiliated with the international Mercure chain. The investment in the project amounts to almost EUR 17 million.

The value of the signed contracts is almost EUR million. The hotel will have 181 rooms, a restaurant, a commercial area, as well as conference facilities on the ground floor.

The company also plans to renovate the Aro Palace hotel and affiliate it with the international Hyatt Regency brand. In total, the expected investments for the two hotels amount to almost EUR 50 million.

ROCKWOOL has Started Work to Double Production at its Prahova Factory

Rockwool insulation solutions manufacturer ROCKWOOL has started a EUR 150 million investment to double production at its factory in Ariceştii Rahtivani, Prahova County.

The new unit will use state-of-the-art technology, based on melting volcanic rock using an electric furnace. This production line will significantly reduce emissions and accelerate the company’s transition to decarbonization.

“The EUR 150 million investment reflects our confidence in the potential of the local and regional market and allows us to consolidate our leading position in the insulation sector. Our decision has proven even more necessary in the context of major legislative changes,” said Florin Popescu, Regional Director ROCKWOOL Balkans.

HORNBACH Invests over EUR 44 Million in the Second Store in Timisoara

HORNBACH, one of the main local retailers of construction and gardening materials, announces the inauguration of its second store in Timisoara, located on Calea Buziașului 152, on October 1, 2025.

The total value of the project exceeds 44 million euros and includes the acquisition of the land, the construction of the store, the equipment, as well as the initial stock of merchandise.

“Beyond the investment in the new store in Timisoara, we have also allocated a budget of over EUR 2 million for the development of public infrastructure. Over 500 meters of streets with all the necessary utilities and a modern intersection were built from scratch, intended to support the urban development of the area”, emphasized Dan Bădescu, Expansion Director of HORNBACH Romania.

The store is located on a 55,000 sqm plot and has 570 parking spaces and a total area of over 19,000 sqm.

Hercesa Builds the First Project with a Swimming Pool in Pantelimon District

Hercesa Romania is investing over 20 million euros in a new building with 105 apartments. It is the first in the Pantelimon district to have a swimming pool, and 20% of the apartments have already been contracted since the launch of sales in July.

The project will only include three- and four-room apartments, and prices start from 182,700 euros plus VAT. The building is being built on a plot of land next to the Vivenda Residencias project on Baia de Aramă Street in Sector 2 of the Capital.

In addition, the project will benefit from a commercial space open to the public and a multifunctional area. This area will be accessible only to residents and can be used for joint activities such as meetings, events or parties.

One United Properties Acquires 1.4-hectare Plot of Land in the Lake Tei Area

One United Properties announces the acquisition of a new 14,295 square meter plot of land near Lake Tei, where the company plans to build a new mixed-use development called One Academy Club. The total value of the transaction amounts to EUR 11,4 million, settled through compensation with residential and commercial units within the development.

One Academy Club will feature approximately 150 apartments, 6 commercial spaces, and 254 parking spaces. The development stands out for its facilities dedicated to the entire community, such as commercial spaces, as well as a school and kindergarten, with a gym, after-school program, canteen, library, and outdoor sports court.

IULIUS to invest EUR 29 mln in the largest private bioremediation process in Europe

IULIUS Company, alongside a multidisciplinary team of environmental experts, kickstarted the largest bioremediation project in Europe by a private investor, focusing on a piece of land in the very heart of Constanța, that has been polluted and inactive for more than a decade, and restoring it back to the city. The investment in the remediation process adds up to more than EUR 29 million and marks the second phase (after the archeological research) of the 800-plus million Euro investment project for converting the former Oil Terminal platform into an integrated urban complex. The uniqueness of this process lies in the development of an innovative scientific method and formulation, specially created to resolve the issues of this site, in the size of the project site spanning 38 hectares of industrial brownfield, as well as in the fact that this process entails the remediation of both the soil and groundwater in the contaminated site area.

“This area has held a decades-long historical role in the development of Constanța and has been a driver of economic growth. We aim to transform this place, set in the heart of Constanța, from a symbol of yesteryear’s industry into a clean and modern urban regeneration project, integrated in the life of the community and bound to become a new development hub for the city in every respect. The bioremediation process is conducted nearby the city center, in an area with a lengthy industrial past, accommodating an oil depot with more than 30 tanks, which contained petroleum products.

The process phases will entail the bioremediation of the soil, physical isolation of the contaminant, and purification of the groundwater, and the solutions identified by the multidisciplinary team of experts are customized and based on exploratory drilling and laboratory testing. At the same time, the contaminated area at the bottom of the excavation pit will be isolated using a physical barrier (a high-density geomembrane with proven durability over time) in order to stop the pollutant from migrating both horizontally and vertically.

The completion of this complex soil bioremediation and groundwater treatment process ensures that the area is safe and can be developed. An area with environmental issues that have been perpetuated and multiplied over the course of decades will become not only sustainable, but also a point of attraction for the entire community.
